The ProForm Pro 5000 Treadmill has some interesting features to help users achieve more during their workout.

A big selling point for those that really want to challenge themselves on this ProForm treadmill is the adaptability of the deck.

This running surface has both an incline and decline, taking you up to +15 degrees and down to -3. This can make a big difference in training different muscles and working on cardio.

The belt also seems to be well cushioned for a low-impact approach and is a good size at 152 by 55cm. This length and width make it more suitable than smaller machines when runners hit the top speed of 22kmph.

Another standout feature here is the console. A lot of thought has gone into the design of this system to ensure that users get a responsive set-up with and user-friendly controls.

The interface has a clear set of buttons for the incline and speed, as well as some quick keys below. This smaller console also contains an emergency stop button.

Within the console is a separate 10-inch device for streaming the videos and other helpful features. This pivots to provide a better view.

As for the programming, this is quite standard with enough to get new users started but not too much that it all becomes overwhelming.

There are in-built features and a series of workout videos – which is where that crisp display is so helpful. But, you also get a year’s subscription to the iFit Coach Family plan. This means a wider range of options including online competitions and Google Maps routes.

The biggest drawback to the ProForm Pro 5000 is the size.

One possible issue with this running machine is the folding design. All companies feel the need to oversell their product’s capabilities, which is understandable with so much competition.

This isn’t a compact as is made out. The bulk and structure of the frame mean that Pro-Form had to use an easy-lift assist rather than a flat-folding design.

This means that you can reduce your footprint a little. But, the apparent lack of transport wheels means that the treadmill isn’t going anywhere else. You are just tidying up your home gym a little.

Otherwise, there doesn’t seem to be too much to worry about with this machine. There are reports of faults and breakdowns, which are going to happen with any high-end piece of machinery like this.

There are also the usual warnings over the need for reliable internet and Bluetooth connections, as well as the time taken to set up features and subscriptions.

Is this ProForm Advanced Treadmill worth it with these pros and cons in mind?

It seems that as long as you are prepared to put the time into setting this up, and have the space available to keep this out permanently, there isn’t too much holding this running machine back.

The size could be an issue for those short on space, but the range of workout features and the free subscription do mean that you should want to use these most days.

It is the attention to the smaller design features and bonus functions that make this worth the time taken to set it up – especially the decline and pivoting console. So, with the right permanent home, this ProForm treadmill could be a great choice.
